Are you just going to stay home on election day, or vote for a third candidate, or even vote for Trump?
Fine. Do it. Just stop the drama. In other words, stop telling everybody, like somehow we should all tremble at your decision.
Those of us who are fighting for America to continue pushing to reverse climate change, or protect the right to vote, or guarantee women’s reproductive rights, or protect the impoverished from GOP evil, or not undermine the millions who now have access to heath care, or ensuring the Supreme Court isn’t a conservative bastion for generations to come, have too much work to do. We have canvassing, phone banking, registering, driving and all the rest of the work to achieve all of those goals. We are not going to waste time kissing your butts and begging you to care about others more than you care about yourself.
Someone said something mean about you online, so you won’t vote? Fine, don’t. But keep it to yourself, or publicly show yourself to be a narcissist who thinks the election is about you. You think HRC can’t win the election without you? Well, no — she can’t win the election without appealing to those who care about government. Given that she and Bernie agree on virtually everything, she is not going to change that last little bit just to appeal to you.
You want to argue that she can’t win without the Bernie dead-enders? Fine. Then she won’t. But — in truth — she will.
I — as a former Bernie supporter — am sick and tired of the drama of those who keep snarling that they won’t vote. So let’s not pretend you are anything other than someone who wants everyone kowtowing to YOU. If you care so little about others in this society, fine. But, every time you pull this “Im going to hold my breath until I turn blue” announcement, you are showing yourself for what you are. Hold your breath — just stop telling us.
